AMANDA PARK
My practices aim to study the development of visual culture on local, national, and global scales and how they work together to connect the universal human experience. I hope to seek and create forums for education concerning how art - as part of the visual world - can help us foster outlets for the sharing of information between a dynamic range of demographics by documenting and recognizing our differences. Despite these differences, the goal is to create opportunities for connection with a purpose of forming and practicing a life led with empathy. By doing so, the differences found between one another can inspire rather than separate humans, proving valuable as a tool towards fostering healthy perceptions of our own realities. Aspects of modern culture concerning online media users and creators can be expressed and advertised as a tool for the education of humans rather than a tool prioritized for capital or objectified purposes.
With an implementation of photography in my every day and a constant observation of the digital world, my creative research process is meant to also nurture healthy perceptions of my own reality. Through an effort of discovering methods in which information can be communicated through multiple mediums, I would like to combine the ideas and visuals of art as an object in a tangible space with the universal accessibility of the internet and online spaces to give access and exposure to this information. Cultures built on the ideas of ethnicity, sexuality, age, and religion are subject to change and learning to empathize with the broad range of identities co-existing across the world.
