Before the Next Hour or So..

In an attempt at creating a narrative through a series of black and white photos, I chose to focus on the record sleeve as the intended subject focus. Under the pressure of an almost overwhelming amount of options, what is the process of choosing the 'right' album? With the choice of a vinyl record collection, provided at University of Oregon's Knight Library, I intended to create a visual emphasis on the album cover's artwork as part of influence in this narrative. In a sea of seemingly endless options to consider, the visual graphics assigned to a chosen record will be the first instigated impressions of an album before the actual content of the record is listened to, which is its main function to the listener. In the act of preparing to listen to a specific sound, there are visual contents considered that may be more influential than initially assumed when engaging in an auditory experience.
